Design
Broadening Horizons was founded on the strength of 19 years working in design studios as both designer and manager across the North East.
Before Broadening Horizons came into existence, our head of design had been producing award winning design work for a wide variety of companies from small businesses to large corporations, theatrical and television studios and we continue to uphold the standards we set ourselves from the very beginning.
Over the years many of our previous clients have followed us from our previous employment to our own company simply because of the high standards we delivered and the quality, friendly service we offer.
Whether it’s a business card or a brochure, a letterhead or leaflet, our years of experience in producing high quality print ready artwork for printing departments, is now backed by a choice of in-house digital printing or litho printing supported by some of the North East’s leading printing companies.
We are regularly employed by a number of design and print companies to raise the standards of work they produce for their clients and as always we are always happy to offer our services to old and new clients alike.
Below is a small selection of our past work.
(some items were created under the employment of other companies)
Broadening Horizons are proud to have been producing posters for DMTC now for their last 14 productions that they have performed and we look forward to producing more. The latest poster for “Scrooge” took a number of different directions before we finally hit on the one illustrated here, but as the poster was to portray and appeal to audiences as a Christmas musical, we cast our minds back to some old Christmas Cards we remembered from our past, printed with a foil effect so that some parts of the picture stood out more depending on the angle of the light. Obviously to print posters and booking forms using a similar process would made a serious impact on the price, we used a mixture of matt and gloss inks to create a faux effect which has been well received by all who have seen them.
When asked to design a poster to promote a 50s and 60s Rock ‘n’ Roll Night we got our thinking heads on to come up with something a little different from the usual square tickets. The client’s request for the poster was something that would resemble an old jukebox so it was only fitting that the tickets themselves should resemble the records that would have played in such a machine. After designing the artwork the tickets were digitally printed on gloss board using a polymerised toner which gave them an almost authentic feel and then die cut to resemble an old 7″ 45rpm.
As well as designing for web and print, Broadening Horizons have also been involved in branding and packaging, including a recent contract for the RiStar range of products including Photo Trimmers, High Quality Matt & Gloss Photo Paper, CD & DVD plastic sleeves, pens and much more to come.
